Inter-school Rugby 10's Tournament (U18's & U16's)

The first 10's Schools Rugby Championship of 2017 was hosted on what was a beautiful sunny day at Sin El Fil pitch on the 4th of March 2017.

The Day Kicked off with an U16 clash between the mighty Jamhour Lions and the up and coming IC Cougars, what was an end to end match and a tightly contested physical game with both teams playing open and expansive rugby the Jamhour Lions narrowly edged the tie by 2 single points with the game ending 12-10 in Jamhours favour. Followed the kickoff of the first u18s Championship game of the season, the lad's continued the hard work and dedication shown by the u16s previously to them and what was a bruising encounter with some huge hits put in by both teams and some fantastic skill the tie ended in a 12-12 draw which was a fair result to two very even teams.

The day continued in this fashion with all the games very tightly contested with great sportsmanship shown by all sides. What was a hard and grueling day it came down to the last 3 games of the day. IC u16 and Jamhour u16 had won one game a piece and it came down to this last game to see who would end up winners of the 1st installment of the competition. The game kicked off and from the start you could tell the boys were incredibly focused and fired up. IC took the game to Jamhour with their brilliant offloading game beating the advantage line time and time again despite under the leadership of their captain who scored arguably the trie of the day with a fantastic tackle, strip off the floor, and a 60 meter burst to the try line, the IC Cugars couldn't beat the very resilient free flowing and attacking Jamhour Lions 20-12 to come top of the seedings. The U16 competition who we are hoping for more participants is looking extremely competitive and very close so we look forward to what lies ahead.

The day finally came down to two games in the u18 tournament. Academy who were undefeated through the day playing against IC Cougars who were pushing hard to catch up to Jamhour who were sitting in 2nd place, alas with a spirited performance and a much improved side due to their coaches dedication and hard work they couldn't overturn the very well drilled and superb u18 Academy who showcased skill and talent with a squad with great depth .

Jamhour who were pushing to secure 2nd place came up against a tired and depleted IC side and eventually the game ended with Jamhour clinching 2nd spot soundly beating IC 24-0. Great Rugby was shown by all sides on that day and we'd like to thank everyone who were involved especially the referees and the supports who made it a fantastic day.
